Did I mention it rains a lot here? Ok, honestly, we have lucked out so far with a LOT of sunshine this winter- until last week. Buckets of rain for three days straight. No break in the intense storm caused our rivers and lakes to overflow, roads to close, and some in surrounding neighborhoods to evacuate. People were rowing their canoes down the street just ten minutes north of us.
(No, I didn't take these photos. I borrowed them from the local news website.)
I stayed cozy in my home- glad to be dry and on slightly higher ground.
I did spend adequate time researching, updating and organizing my Emergency Preparedness Kit, though. It had been a while since I looked in that bin and now I have 2 kids with pretty specific needs. Although minor compared to many disasters, this flooding helped me get my rear in gear.
Another thing I can check off my 2012 To Do list!
