3 Week Countdown

Stephen took these photos last night.
I haven't been one to pose for many belly shots this time, but these are pretty special to me.

Jacob is so excited for Baby Brother to get here. When I ask him "What is baby brother doing?" he points to my middle and says "sweeping and gwowing" (translation: sleeping and growing.) and "When will baby brother come home?" he answers "After lots of naps." He's right. Three weeks worth of naps. Blessed naps. As I've been reorganizing things, anything he finds that he has outgrown or doesn't really play with anymore he holds up and says "Baby Brother's!" and runs it into the nursery. Let's hope he's just as willing to share when he gets here.

Just three weeks left as a family of three.
Can't wait for this new little baby to come to our house to live!

The Rodeo

Few summer events compare to a Rodeo! And this year's Philomath Rodeo did not disappoint.

Many impressive competitions,
But the FAVORITE was seeing "Dr. Davis" ride in the annual Businessman's Donkey Race:

The big show ended with a fun fireworks display...
(starting right when we took the above photo as you can see on Jake's face.)

Stephen loves working in Philomath a couple days a week and
we love the small-town celebrations we get to enjoy along with it.

Dinosaurs...

I just don't get it. I don't know about you, but I'm excited for the "How Dinosaurs Fit In" lesson in the afterlife. And how on earth do scientists determine how old fossils are in the MILLIONS of years? How do they know what type of noises they made? What types of food certain species ate? Who got along with who? And is it true the Brontosaurus (my personal favorite growing up) never really existed? What?

Well, anyway. I'm fascinated. And my son is becoming quite so as well. His dinosaur ROARS are hilarious. But, I better do some more studying before he starts asking real questions about it all.

On another dino note, I just scored an awesome box full of Dinosaurs from a yard sale for 5 bucks. Can't wait to see him enjoy them!

Photo a Day #7: Swings

A big shout-out to my brother, Caleb, who took this photo for my final "Photo A Day" week challenge. It's so perfect I didn't have to send it thru photoshop for a thing. Nice work! And wow- doesn't my baby boy look so not-a-baby-anymore-ish? I think he's ready to be the big brother now...

One of the last nights in Provo my family did a little mini baby shower for me. It was perfect. Just our family, brick oven pizza, perfect weather, fun park, and some adorable gifts. I love LOVE nights like this.

The boys and the belly...

The family... I tried to get Becca to take that last swing but it was a no-go.
Maybe when Baby Girl Hicks gets here...

And this swingset was a treasure find and quite the BLAST!
Super tall swings and the whole thing rotates.

Photo a Day #6: Shadows

They say it's the little moments that make life big. Here's a taste of one of those little moments that made me smile. It was one of the first very sunny days of summer, and Jacob was quite surprised and thoroughly entertained by his own shadow. We made the most of it by tracing eachother's outlines with sidewalk chalk that afternoon. Glad they could be reintroduced after so long. I only wish I had a video of his shadow dance. It was priceless.
