It's a Christmas Miracle

Julia has been trying to get me to enter the "blogosphere" along with her, so I figure my contribution will be my Christmas present to her. Way to get off easy. Christmas is the undisputed champion of holidays. There is so much to love about it. But the thing I love the must is the way people treat each other during the Christmas season. I know I am not the first person to recognize this, but I think it is one of the truly unique and wonderful phenomenon of Christmas. There are many different explanations, but it stands to reason that a season celebrating the birth of the Savior would incorporate His values and teachings. This is why I love Christmas.

Happiness at Christmastime

Only two days until Christmas.  I wanted to list some of the things I just LOVE!

Happiness at Christmastime is...

The chill in the air with the smell of fireplaces around the neighborhood
Candles
The classic version of Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer
Peppermint ice cream
My collection of snowmen
Fake snow at Disneyland
Watching A Christmas Story with my Dad
Almost missing the real snow... ok, I miss it, but don't tell my husband that.
Decorating the tree with all my ornaments of the past and a new one each year
Cookie parties with my Mom
Singing "Baby, it's cold outside" and other holiday favorites
Visiting family
Christmas Socks
The Muppet Christmas Carol
Mr. Bean's Christmas
Making Christmas CDs and playlists
Sibling sleepovers and Christmas Pajamas
Stockings hung up.... somewhere.  We don't have a fireplace.
Wishing I liked egg-nog
Christmas cinnamon bread
Saying "Merry Christmas" to anybody
See's chocolates
Driving around at night to see the lights
Peeking on Christmas Eve
Seeing Nativities and reading the Christmas Story
Remembering the true meaning of Christmas even though the world tries to forget it.
And so much more!!

Newport Boat Parade

Life is full of fun weekends.  Stephen and I went down to Newport to visit my grandpa and grandma and to see the famous Boat Parade.  We walked around the fun-zone, ate corn dogs, and went on the ferris wheel.  Scary!  I still have a little fear of those ever since I got stuck on one at Lagoon for over 40 or so minutes with my cousin Laura (I was probably 10 years old....)  But it was fun to see all of the lights from above.  My grandparents also have a great double bike that Steve and I cruised around the neighborhoods on to check out the decorated houses. Coolest!

Weekend Extravaganza!

Well, this weekend was quite eventful!  Stephen and I met up with Rachel, Aaron, Johnny and Dixie and her family at Disneyland.  It was a good thing I packed my hat and mittens.  Brrrrr!  I have been such a wimp when it comes to being cold now!  Anyway, the castle was breathtaking and the parade was a hit.  I love fast-passes.  It's really the only way to go.... and my brother in law, Aaron, is a professional.  After Disney we went to the beach house for hot chocolate and a hilarious game of "Boxers or Briefs" which is a new board game we got for some laughs.  Similar to Apples to Apples.
The next morning we woke up and went to the Orange Balloon.  Unfortunately the wind was too strong and we were about 10 minutes too late.  They had to cancel the rest of the flights for the day.  So all we could do was take a picture of what could have been.  So sad, indeed!  I hope to return to ride on that great helium Orange Balloon!
Saturday night was awesome!  Steve and I went to BJ's Pizza for dinner with the fam and then came back to LA for the John Mayer concert.  He is PHENOMENAL!   I mean, I knew he was great and all.... but seriously?  He's got skills.  I know this sounds wierd, but I think my favorite number was his acoustic version of "Free Falling."  Even though it's not his original stuff.... it was beautiful.
Ok, all is well here.  We finally put up our christmas tree--- aaah!  I've never done it sooo late in December!  We'll get about a week and a half out of it before we go up to Utah.  I have to be honest in saying I haven't even gotten to buy ONE Christmas present for anyone yet!!  I'm in serious trouble.....

Who we are...

Hello friends,
This is Julia and Stephen Davis and "we have officially joined the blogger world!"  We're so trendy right now.  It just took me a long while to get around to my first official post.  Well, as you know, December is an extremely busy month.... but I have made the pre-New Years resolution to both stay in better touch with friends and family as well as keep a better record of the wonderful life we're living.  So here it goes.
As a quick introduction (or reminder for those who know us- which should be anyone who bothers with this blog anyway), we are here in Torrance, California.  We're about 15 miles outside L.A. and just five minutes away from the ocean.  We are getting used to the snowless winters and truly enjoy having windows open year round.  Being married for just over three years, we can't help but think how we've been truly blessed with amazing opportunities together.  Stephen is in his second year at USC for dental school while I am currently teaching 4th grade for my second year at Pacific Elementary.
I am taking a pilates class and need to go... I'm starting to get more into fitness.  Yea me!
