Stephen's Birthday Prize

Stephen turned the big 3-0 this month. For several weeks I was trying to come up with something to make this birthday really special for him, but I ended up getting off the hook this year...

To make a long story sorta short- Stephen entered a TaylorMade Golf contest online and out of thousands who entered he was one of the 10 people that won!

A golfer's dream prize, really. An all expense paid trip to Carlsbad/San Diego to be treated like a golf pro for a weekend. The weekend which just so happened to be his 30th birthday!

The trip inlcuded flights, 2 nights in a 5 star hotel, a professional fitting for clubs, a custom made driver, an enormous goodie bag filled with golf apparel, top of the line golf shoes, a Flip video camera (so they could document the weekend), and a bunch of other crazy golf stuff. They toured the Taylormade faciilities and got amazing deals at the employee store. They played at one of the nicest golf courses on the west coast.

On top of all that, Stephen's very favorite part of the weekend was meeting and having a one on one golf lesson with Jim Flick, the legendary golf instructor who's worked with Jack Nicklaus and other amazing players.

He is still awestruck to say the least.

I couldn't have planned a more perfect birthday celebration for him if I tried. He's nice though- he says he owes it all to me since I was the editor for his 50 word essay that won.
Ok, I guess I'll take a little credit.

Stephen and his prize were even featured on the sports page of the local paper yesterday.

Yep, we live in a small town.

Happy Birthday, Stephen. Glad your golf dreams came true this year!

Family Photographers

Wow. Came across this little gem today and had to share.

My sister and I have been in the Family Photo business longer than I had remembered...

Photobucket

Even with tiny dolls it was impossible to get all the babies and toddlers to look at the same time.
(And you can tell we really thought about the backdrop.)

Rach, it sure has been a blast doing so many photos with you over the years.
Glad we've learned so much together and improved ours skills a little since then!

Just the Two of Us

A few days ago we were at the mall and despite the fact I hadn't put on make up for the day, I thought we'd try out the ol' photostrip booth. Good entertainment. I think Jacob is a natural ham. He HAD to have his hood on for the pics. True Oregon boy.

Stephen was out of town this weekend (for reasons I'll explain later) and we're so excited for him to get home! I may be super exhausted, but had fun with the extra one-on-one time with my little buddy. He just makes me laugh and I am thrilled with how much more he is talking these days.

Cheesy but cute story of the day. Last night while I was reading to him, somehow it came up that I had a baby in my belly. He looked at me all surprised and excited. (I had definitely mentioned it to him before- but I don't think he really believed me or understood yet) I am getting a bit bigger so maybe its slightly more believable. He kept poking me, lifting my shirt of course, giggling and asking "where's baby?"

Well, this morning he wanted to sit on my lap while we ate cereal. Out of nowhere he patted my belly again and said "HI BABY!!" It was so enthusiastic and made me smile. I think he's starting to get it...

Soon enough it won't be Just the Two of Us during the day anymore. But I'll always cherish this time we have together and I know he's going to LOVE being a big brother.

Can't wait to squeeze another kid into that photobooth.... Hmm... only 22 weeks to go...

Home Sweet Home

Moving so far from home can really make you appreciate all the little things when you return. And even though our trip was 12 days long from Provo to St. George to Vegas... it went by way too fast.

I really don't know why I didn't bring my cameras on the trip- it's so uncharacteristic of me, right? Maybe I was too stressed fitting everything in only one suitcase for the flight. Maybe it was my pregnant brainlessness. Fortunately my mom and sister took some photos of some of our good times...

And I'm pretty sure the only ones who would want to know all the details were there already so all I''ll say is it was a perfect two week celebration for my 28th birthday! Yay!

Mmmmmm.... chocolate Dunford Donuts.
Goodbye, I need to go find a treat of some sort...
