We're Oregonian

Found this today and had to laugh a little. I can now relate to all of the following...

"If you've worn shorts, sandals and a parka at the same time, you live in Oregon.

If you measure distance in hours, you live in Oregon.

If you know several people who have hit a deer more than once, you live in Oregon.

If you have switched from 'heat' to 'A/C' and back again in the same day, you live in Oregon.

If someone in a Home Depot store offers you assistance and they don't work there, you live in Oregon.

If you design your kid's Halloween costume to fit over 2 layers of clothes or under a raincoat, you live in Oregon.

If you know all 4 seasons: almost winter, winter, still winter, and road construction, you live in Oregon.

If you feel guilty throwing aluminum cans or paper in the trash, you live in Oregon.

If you know more people who own boats than air conditioners, you live in Oregon.

If you know how to pronounce Sequim, Puyallup, Clatskanie, Issaquah, Oregon, Umpqua, Yakima and Willamette, you live in Oregon.

If you consider swimming an indoor sport, you live in Oregon.

If you know that Boring is a city and not just a feeling, you live in Oregon.

If you think people who use umbrellas are either wimps or tourists, you live in Oregon.

If you buy new sunglasses every year, because you cannot find the old ones after such a long time, you live in Oregon.

If you actually understand these jokes you live or have lived in Oregon."

-Jeff Foxworthy

But Mr. Foxworthy, perhaps you could add the following?

If you drive down the interstate and notice livestock being transported by a two-door, you might live in Oregon.

Easter

Easter weekend was wonderful. One of those where I just kept realizing how grateful I am for the good things in life and especially how thankful I am for my Savior. I loved celebrating the weekend spending time with my little family.

We tried to get out and enjoy the quick breaks of sunshine when we could.
So we did a little impromptu egg hunt for Jacob in our backyard.

Photobucket

(Don't judge- it's been too wet to really mow lately. But it was perfect for hiding eggs and a basket!)
Photobucket

He had a blast. I got a few pictures but the videos are the best with all his "Oh! There it is!" and "Oh wow!"s.
Holiday festivities are so fun with little ones.

I'm glad that he appreciates the books in his basket even more than all the sweets.... that means more chocolate for me!
..Happy Easter and Happy Spring..

Trains, Trains, Trains

I don't know how old kids have to be to create life-long memories... but I hope these pictures can help Jacob remember how much fun he had with his Grandma "Gigi" exploring the trains in Garibaldi.

It was hard to keep up with him as he ran from train to train yelling "Tuwain!" and "C'mere Gigi!" as he pulled her arms to where he wanted to go next.

We can't wait to visit the Garibaldi trains again some day!

Thanks for Visiting!

My Mom, my sister Rachel and her baby Brigham came to visit us a few weeks ago. What a fun weekend! I loved showing them around our little town and we all had fun doing the touristy stuff around Oregon despite it being a record-breaking-rainy month!

We started in Portland on Wednesday. Went to the first Original Pancake House. Y.U.M. and then to Powell's Books- the bookstore that takes up an entire city block. We may have gotten carried away in the children's literature section. Later we hit up the food trucks downtown and had the best crepes ever.

We went to Tillamook to visit the cheese factory. Now I am an Oregonian- I've become a Tillamook snob. Our freezer is constantly stocked with Tillamook Icecream, and we never choose a different brand of cheese.

(Poor Brigham couldn't enjoy the cheese or icecream samples, but his sock seemed good enough.)

We drove up past Tillamook to Girabaldi, a tiny coastal town, and discovered this fantastic old train yard/museum.
To say Jacob was in "Tuwain" heaven would be an understatement.

Back at home, we got the boys matchy PJs and attempted a mini-photoshoot with them.

Thanks Rach for making this adorable "Cousins" storyboard. Cute little buddies. Jacob just ADORES baby Brigham, and I'm grateful that he is such a trooper to put up with all the lovey tackles.

So grateful you all made the trip. It means the world to me.
