This is Kinda a Big Deal!

Today was a big day in the Davis Household! Stephen was offered and accepted a one-year residency position in Arizona! (Who woulda thought? It wasn't really on our list for some reason, But AZ here we come!)

Stephen drove down to Flagstaff yesterday for the interview. He was really impressed with what the program has to offer. Its actually about 45 minutes outside of Flagstaff at an Indian Health Center. He was so excited to hear about all the things he will get experience in. And this will look great on his resume if he chooses to associate right after and eventually buy a practice.
We both feel so great about it.
Now I just get to explore Flagstaff and try to find a neighborhood for Jake and I to spend all our time in.
So, I go to the internet today...... and when I type in Flagstaff, AZ...... this is pretty much what I get........

Where are all the people?

Oh. There's some.
Welp. Small town. And what is that? Snow?
I have a feeling we're not in LA anymore, Toto!
I am seriously excited for this big change in our lives- even if its only for a year-
Its a big stepping stone to what lies ahead for us.

So, We'll be Comin' round the Mountain when we Come.
And there may not be a Disneyland next door..... but hey, the Grand Canyon anyone?

"Flagstaff sits just north of the center of Arizona, only a few hours’ drive from Phoenix. Less than an hour from the Grand Canyon, Flagstaff is covered in pine forests and is an ideal destination for hiking, skiingand other outdoor activities."

It will be an exciting adventure. I'm sure it feels great to have finally made the decision.

We are so happy for you. It back to your Grandmother's/ Great-grandmother/ and Great Great Grandmother's back yards. Just remember to throw around that you are a "Whiting" and you might get some new respect. Remember Brigham Young sent your Great Great Grandfather to the area to help settle it and organize the church there.

That is about three hours from where you will be--in the White Mountains of Arizona, but some in the state will remember Whiting Gas Stations before the big companies came in. Those were your ancestors.

YEA!!!!! OR IS IT YAY!!!! Either way I am SO happy for you both. Flagstaff is beautiful in the summer - a little chilly in the winter - but certainly a new adventure! AND I know how to drive there - if I can just get through Fredonia without turning the wrong direction... Love you guys! Miriam

Congratulations on nearing the end of student life (I guess residency isn't quite the end). Hopefully we'll move back to AZ and we can compare Lucy and Jacob's cheeks in person. You've probably done more research and found out that Flagstaff is a decent sized community, comparable to St. George in population. Northern Arizona University is a beautiful campus with outstanding music and hippy programs and houses the Arizona EFY. Also there are pine trees not cacti. Our favorite local restaurant is Oregano's and the best public lavatory is the Little America Hotel. - Jake
